The territory of Valle Castellana is located in the center of the Abruzzo Apennines, on the northern slopes of the Monti della Laga, immersed in the large and lush Abruzzi woods at 625 m above sea level and 41 km from Teramo. Splendid is the natural landscape with typical villages, abandoned water mills, ancient oaks and the lake of Talvacchia that every summer collects thousands of tourists dedicated to tourist-mountain walks. In this area, chamois, roe deer, peregrine falcons, owls and golden eagles and the rare Italian geotritone are at their ease. Among the architectural evidences we can remember the ruins of Castel Manfrino, in contrada macchia da Sole, an ancient military fort reconstructed by Manfredi on the remains of Roman castrum where the treasure of Manfredi is still buried; the Church of the SS. Annunziata of Benedictine origin, dating back to the year one thousand with a beautiful portal and crypt; the churches of S. Vito and Santa Rufina in Romanesque style; the Bonifaci Castle in Vallenquina.
